Hi, I’m Derek Cronin, I’m from Dublin, Ireland, and I make music and pictures for a living.
I’ve been commissioned to write music for lots of things, from promotional DVDs for Tourism Ireland to kids’ TV series for RTE, and everything in-between, including the odd advertising jingle!
I also play live with various bands. I’m currently working with singer Jack L, but I’ve worked in the past with lots of different acts including the Commitments, Donovan, Juliet Turner, the Dublin City Jazz Orchestra, Brian Kennedy, and Westlife.
I have directed & edited promotional, commercial and educational films and videos for many companies, including Creative Labs, World Vision, the European Space Agency, Fine Gael, Bord Bia, TG4 and RTE.
Sometimes I can be found lecturing on all subjects music/video/multimedia related in the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, on their Masters in Music Technology, and the odd time I also guest lecture in the Dublin Institute of Technology, and the Temple Bar Sound Training Centre.
Other than that stuff, and writing this blog, I try to spend as much time as I can with my wife Aoibhe, and my children, Cole & Cora.
